Cherry Tree Elementary admission is handled through Carmel Clay Schools (CCS) enrollment: students are assigned to a school based on CCS geographic boundaries, and families register by completing the district’s online registration packet. For the 2026–2027 school year, kindergarten enrollment begins January 12, 2026, and families then schedule a kindergarten screening appointment at the school where the child is enrolled. Required documentation includes an official birth certificate (or passport), immunization records, guardianship/custody paperwork if the enrolling adult is not the biological parent, proof of residency (housing document plus a gas/electric utility bill), and a parent/guardian government-issued photo ID. Kindergarten eligibility requires the child to be age 5 on or before August 1 of the enrolling year; an early-entrance waiver process may be considered for children turning 5 on or before October 1 (with additional criteria). The website does not describe a general admissions waitlist; requests to attend outside the assigned boundary (in-district transfers/residency exceptions) are limited to specific eligibility categories (e.g., mid-year relocation, continuity for entering 5th/8th grade after attending for multiple years, siblings receiving special services, children of CCS employees, and certain Cherry Tree boundary middle-school options) and decisions depend on eligibility and space, with processing typically taking about 10–14 days.
