Asbury Elementary’s enrollment is handled through Denver Public Schools (DPS) SchoolChoice (you apply online, create/log into an account, rank up to 12 schools, and submit). (schoolchoice.dpsk12.org) For the 2026–27 school year, SchoolChoice Round 1 closed at 4 p.m. on January 20, 2026; families who applied in Round 1 are notified of matches and any waitlist placements in late February 2026, and Round 2 opens at 10 a.m. on March 10, 2026. (schoolchoice.dpsk12.org) After you receive/accept a seat, families complete DPS registration (typically via the Parent Portal) and should be prepared with documents such as proof of address, a birth certificate, and immunization/vaccination records (and a parent/guardian ID is commonly requested). (robertfsmith.dpsk12.org) If there are more applicants than seats, DPS uses the SchoolChoice priority rules and a random lottery number to determine offers and to order the Round 1 waitlist within priority groupings; in Round 2, applications are processed first-come/first-served within priority groups and students may be placed on a waitlist while the school processes the application. (core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com) Asbury’s published SchoolChoice priority categories (in the most recent Asbury-specific priorities document found, labeled “2023–24”) include boundary residents first, then children of school employees, then various district-resident categories including sibling priorities (with additional preference tied to “high concentration of students eligible for free/reduced-price lunch” areas), and then non-district residents; for grades 1–5 it also lists priority for students impacted by school closure decisions, and it notes that no priority category guarantees admission and that each sibling needs a separate SchoolChoice application. Asbury Elementary School offers the DPS Discovery Link program (before/after-school care). Asbury lists on-site Discovery Link staff (including a Program Supervisor). After-school care generally runs from school dismissal (“bell time”) until 6:00 p.m.; exact start time depends on the school’s bell schedule (Asbury’s school day is listed as 7:40am–2:40pm). A current DPS Discovery Link fee-based brochure (SY 2025-2026) shows PM care priced at $18.00.
